The initiative's goal is to continuously improve the social performance of suppliers, leading to best practices (such as SA8000 compliance or equivalent) and sustainably enhancing working conditions in factories worldwide.
ICTI
ICTI, the International Council of Toys Industry, developed a single, efficient, and coherent ethical standard, including the Code of Business Practices and auditing protocol to be adopted by factories. The program's objective is to independently monitor and certify compliance with socially responsible global standards for manufacturing, and ensure that the manufactured products are produced under lawful, humane and ethical conditions

ISO 22000 (Food Safety Management System)

The increased demand for food safety has resulted in a number of standards being developed in different countries. Additionally, organizations in the food sector often use their own codes to audit their suppliers. The sheer number of standards, and the cost involved in conforming to all of them, can make it nearly impossible to keep up with the different requirements in the global food market. unless you have a partner like OXYGEN Group to help you through the requirements and gain compliance. OXYGEN Group provides organizations in the food industry with compliance of their systems, processes, and products to relevant international standards by a highly skilled and practical team of global auditors. We are an internationally-recognized consultancy body, providing independent validation that suppliers at all points of the food chain are diligent to both their manufacturers as well as to the end consumer. We can help you ensure that the food has been produced, prepared, handled, packaged, distributed and transported in accordance with standards and good practices such as:

  • ISO 22000:2005 Any organization in the food chain can meet the key requirements of various global standards by implementing a Food Safety Management System in compliance with ISO 22000.
  • British Retail Consortium (BRC) Food Standard The BRC standard helps manufacturers to establish a system to assist in the avoidance of product failure and successfully meet a number of required elements for a "due diligence" defense.
  • International Food Standard (IFS) The IFS standard has been designed to be a harmonized method of monitoring the quality level of retailer-branded food products. The standard can apply to organizations at any step in the food processing chain after agricultural production.
  • GlobalGAP The GlobalGAP standard covers agricultural production up until the point that the product leaves the farm. It helps an organization to minimize the environmental impact of its farming operations, optimize the use of inputs, and ensure the health and safety of its workers

Integrated Management System

Organizations in every industry face a myriad of challenges and barriers to market. Customers often have their own unique quality requirements; complying with all of those requirements can result in complex administration and increased overhead.
The solution OXYGEN Group offers two ways for you to combine audits to multiple standards.
  • A combined implementation occurs when management system is related to different standard requirements, are conducted simultaneously.
  • An integrated implementation is the implementation of an integrated management system, which is a single management system that fully or partially integrates the requirements of different standard requirements.
By using a combined or integrated approach across all standard requirements, efficiencies can be realized that may not be achieved by auditing individual management systems, including:
  • Lower compliance costs, through a reduction of monitoring time and/or expenses
  • Fewer interruptions for your organization - you can meet all requirements in a single addressal
  • Streamlined processes and more consistent objectives across multiple systems
  • Reduced documentation, including a single set of documentation
Many organizations choose to combine audits to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, or ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. Many other combinations are possible. Who should opt for this? Integrated management systems can be implemented by organizations of any size or sector, looking to integrate two or more of their management systems into one unified system with a set of documentation, policies, procedures and processes. Typically, organizations that will consider this step are those who have maturing management systems and who are also considering simplifying their system and lowering their costs

ISO 27001 (Information Security Management System)

Information is the most important strategic asset an organization has at its disposal. Therefore, it is critical that any systems holding that information be protected against the threat of loss, theft, or damage. One way this protection can be accomplished is through the use of an Information Security Management System (ISMS). ISO/IEC 27001:2005 (previously BS 7799) is an international standard that provides specifications and guidance for the establishment and proper maintenance of an ISMS. It offers a process driven approach, Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA), which in turn reflects the principles of the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) guidelines governing the security of information systems and networks. ISO/IEC 27001:2005 consists of two parts under the general title Information Technology - Security Technique - Information Security Management System:
  • ISO/IEC 17799:2005 (Part 1) is a "code of practice" which describes the best practices for an Information Security Management System within the scope of ISO/IEC 27001 Part 2.
  • ISO/IEC 27001:2005 (Part 2) is comprised of a number of specifications for Information Security Management Systems. It provides the means to measure, monitor, and control security management with a top-down approach. It covers governance, access control, risk assessment, classification, compliance, continuity planning, and more.
ISO/IEC 27001:2005 specifies the approach in the following sets using the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) methodology:
1. Security Management & Principles: The core components of risk management, information security policy, procedures, standards, guidelines, baselines, classification, education, and security organization serve as the foundation of information security. Security controls are implemented and maintained to address the three interdependent principles present in all programs: Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability, also known as the "CIA triad."
2. Security Management Responsibilities: This includes the resources, funding, and strategic representation needed to participate in a security program. The assigned responsibilities get the ISMS off the ground and keep it thriving and evolving as the environment changes. Management support is one of the most important factors for the success of the security program.
3. Top-Down Approach: The top-down approach means that top management provides support and direction, which is cascaded down through middle-level management and then to staff members.
4. Risk Management: Risk management is the process of identifying, analyzing, assessing, evaluating, and reducing risk to an acceptable level, and implementing the right defense mechanisms to maintain an acceptable level of risk.
5. Security Awareness: To achieve the desired results of the security program, an organization must communicate the "what, how and why" of security to their employees. This awareness should be comprehensive, tailored, and organization-wide.
6. Business Continuity and Disaster Management: Ensures continuity, recovery and restoration of the business in case of disaster. In the case of an emergency, it would involve getting critical systems to another environment while repair of the original facilities is taking place.
7. Legal Compliance: Includes compliance to various civil, criminal, and administrative (regulatory) laws such as intellectual property laws, trade secrets, copyrights, trademarks, patents, and data protection.
